RV4 builder/owner 2800 hrs still going strong. Lycoming IO360, dual Lightspeed electronic ignitions and SDSefi. Over the years my plane has received some notoriety. Sept. 27, 1997 it received the Triaviathon World Record which it still holds today. It also has some speed records in its' class. The fastest speed during a race was in 2000 for a standing start triangular course at 261 mph. The best speed ever was 264+/- mph under perfect conditions during testing when someone else wasn't holding the stopwatch. Its' been detuned since then but will still do 250+/-. Over the years of modifications I have kept records of the improvements to speed, efficiency and decreased drag reduction. I've put together a chronology of the changes with pictures of them and analysis of each. I can't download it here due to its' size but if anyone is interested I can send them to someone with the ability to store and distribute it, or I'd be happy to discuss anything if you would rather call. Just as a fun note when I built my plane the N# represented my goal in mph and in 12 years it ended up knots.
